Speediance Gym Monster Ultra builds on the foundation of Gym Monster 2 with a range of upgrades designed to deliver a more complete and gym-level home strength training experience. With higher digital resistance, broader exercise coverage, and a more advanced all-in-one setup, Gym Monster Ultra takes the core concept of GM2 to the next level.

So, what has changed from Gym Monster 2 to Gym Monster Ultra? Let’s break down the key upgrades and see how they affect your training.

What’s New in Gym Monster Ultra?

More Resistance for Strength Training

Gym Monster Ultra provides up to 260 lb (120 kg) of digital resistance through dual 1000W motors, compared with 220 lb (100 kg) from Gym Monster 2's dual 800W motors. With an additional 40 lb of resistance, GM Ultra offers more headroom for heavier strength training and continued progression as your training demands increase.

More Training Options with Gym Monster Ultra

  • Pull-up and lat pulldown functionality: Gym Monster 2 does not support pull-ups, and lat pulldowns require a separate accessory. Gym Monster Ultra integrates both pull-up and lat pulldown functionality for a more complete training setup.
  • Pulley system: Gym Monster 2 features one pair of detachable vertical pulleys, with 11 vertical cable positions and one bottom position. Gym Monster Ultra expands the pulley setup to three pairs: one upper pair, one vertical pair, and one bottom pair. It also increases the total number of cable positions to 33, with 1 top, 27 vertical, and 5 bottom positions. This gives you more options for adjusting cable height and finding the right setup for different movements.

A Larger Training Footprint

  • Larger footprint: When unfolded with the lat pulldown arms, Gym Monster Ultra occupies 2.08 m² (22.4 ft²), compared with 0.84 m² (9 ft²) for Gym Monster 2. Without the lat pulldown arms, Ultra takes up 1.41 m² (15.1 ft²).
  • Greater unfolded height: Gym Monster Ultra stands 89.4 in tall when unfolded, compared with 72.8 in for Gym Monster 2.
  • Larger training platform: Gym Monster Ultra features a 0.88 m² training platform, compared with 0.54 m² on Gym Monster 2, providing more space for exercises.
  • Heavier overall design: Gym Monster Ultra weighs 125 kg (276 lb), compared with 78 kg (172 lb) for Gym Monster 2.

Its larger footprint and additional training hardware make it better suited to a dedicated training area, while GM2 is easier to accommodate in space-limited homes.

A Fully Upgraded Interaction Experience

Gym Monster Ultra also introduces several improvements to the user experience, making the machine easier and more intuitive to interact with:

  • Screen: A larger 23.8-inch touchscreen, up from 21.5 inches on Gym Monster 2
  • Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi 6 on Ultra for a faster, more stable connection, versus Wi-Fi 5 on Gym Monster 2
  • Voiceprint recognition and voice control: Fully live on GM Ultra — hands-free start/stop, weight and mode adjustment, and other controls (voice interaction currently supports English only; Spanish, German, French, and Arabic support will be added through upcoming OTA updates). Gym Monster 2's voice control is still under development.
  • Computing power: A higher-performance chip on GM Ultra powers all of this smart functionality, versus a standard-performance chip on Gym Monster 2
  • Screen auto-rotation and ambient lighting: Both included on GM Ultra; neither is available on Gym Monster 2
